In Duluth we went to visit the Great Lakes Aquarium with the Special Secrets of the SeaHorse exhibit before leaving to head north. Most of the Aquarium featured fish and animals native to the Minnesota area but I have to admit that the SeaHorses were my favorites.
Gooseberry Falls was a beautiful area to visit - to sit and relax for awhile. There was a short walk to get to the falls but it was certainly worth it. 
This is Split Rock Lighthouse near Two Harbors. We got a 45 minute tour of the facilities here which focused on the history of the lighthouse and support buildings which originated in 1909-1910. We were able to climb to the top of the lighthouse as well as hearing a loud sample of the foghorn used during bad weather.
